Elective Choices and Case results!!!

It has been a trying week (so what's new??)..We are now required to take 2 electives next term from 5 subjects in addition to 4 core courses...All the analytical guys (including moi) are going in for Finance II and Macroeconomics. I am also requesting an outside option to audit (basically sit in on the classes for ) Strategy and Technology Innovation. Need to see how that goes. Of course you still need to pass Term I.

We did get results of the our first 2 case submissions back this week .Strategy was okayish (60%) while Organizational Behaviour case was better (70%) . Have 3 more case submissions occuring in this week so the nightmares continue...nothing else that really requires a mention..It has been really quiet since the holiday season is now setting in (starting with Halloween today..) Of course life is also becoming more painful since exams are now only 5 weeks away....Struggling to find some time...

Got some photographs of my daughter Dhriti this week from back home...Enjoy!!!.....Auf Wiedersehn until next time...

Diwali...An excuse for getting plastered!!!!

Come Monday morning this week, it was pretty evident that the program is taking its toll..Zombies are the order of the day !!! There are now 2 categories of people in the business school...those who are desperately trying to catch up after initial weeks of partying !!!Kudos to them...The second category is of those guys who have GIVEN up trying to catch up!!!The number of cases to be submitted is steadily rising ..We did get the results of our first case on strategy and it was not bad for a first ditch effort!!!Lotsa encouragement, minimum marks!!!Its the story of my life!!!The week opened with a trip to Deutsche Bank in London to meet ex MBAs.and then its work all the way......
In other news last week, we had the Diwali Bop (Party) at St Anthony's college, filled with DESIS in traditional outfits (some of them were pretty luscious, to say the least!!! And I am NOT talking about the guys here....)..Sufficient to say we were plastered in a few hours that it took us to deplete the drinks from the bar....A glance at the photos provides evidence....Among the enthusiastic dancers, Ashish Tewari , Sumit Thakur, Somesh deserve special credit...and yes that is a cigar Saheel is smoking in there.....I did try it out too...with expectedly disastrous results.
Did some one say I do not know to Bhangra...????

Price takers and perfect competition!!!!

As I write this at 1:30 AM , which is roughly a normal hour as far as we are now concerned, grappling with the notion of average and marginal economic costs, wonder who the hell said that it was a pretty life? You now know what it means to be a "zombie" in class....Unless of course you are cold called by the prof doing cases, at which point you are going to wake up with "D-uh"!!! Also started my italian classes today and yes" come si scrive il tuo nome???" which is roughly the only sentence we have sorta picked up!!! Va bene.......

In other news, my brother is now enjoying the sights of New York on a visit as a member of the new MBA class of 2008 ffrom Jones School, Rice University..Looking at this is kinda nostalgic...If you have lived and worked in NY you do tend to miss the mad rush which is characteristic of that city...And yes he is the one in the extreme left.....

Ok, I will leave you with a sorry picture before I go back to breaking my head on the stone of Managerial Economics, taken AFTER mtriculation (up until that point we are supposed to be model and serious students...)..Hmm..maybe not.......!!!!

3 Weeks down the line.....

...I am still taking in the Oxford sights. A lot has happened over the past 3 weeks. Inductions to the Business School as well as individual college was a colourful experience. Each of the class of 216 MBAs had to go up on stage in a short videographed presentation to give an account of our sins and experiences in our lives to date. Classes have started and help, it is too much!!! Of course we do manage to hit the bar quite often as you can see (Dudes, we at St Hugh's have our own labelled wine..beat that!!!!)....

We did manage to successfully upload our first assignment in strategy successfully today...thanks to my committed group..(Anoop, Russel, Shelby, Yoshiki and Jacquelline)......and yes , before i sign off, some photos of my matriculation ceremony are here..... One AWESOME Experience...!!!! Thanks to Hiro, Chris North and Saheel for providing the photos...
